Comments:
1) Ice should be more easily available. Heat can be overwhelming & a cold bottle of water becomes warm quickly. 2) The difficulty of hike from cottages to dining area should be more clearly made evident to potential visitors by you and Lapa Rios. I was at my limit, & other guests were seriously complaining.

Comments:
The setting was absolutely perfect. I had never been in a rainforest before and Lapa Rios afforded me the ultimate rainforest experience. There was no doubt that you were "right-in-the-middle" of the rainforest with all accommodations right-at-hand and not detracting from the experience. There is much to do and many trails to hike. The beach and ocean were perfect and nearby. The ridge-top location of the establishment afforded magnificent views. There was always uphill treks to meals but rides could easily be arranged for the longer trips uphill (like from the beach). All of the staff were always attentive and very friendly. It is amazing how loud the rainforest is at night, however you quickly adapt and only the real close (and vociferous) howler monkeys can wake you from sleep after the first night. Lapa Rios was fantastic and the feeling of being (comfortably) right in the middle of nature, at its purest, magnificent and very powerful!

(The Owner's House) Does not face the Goffo Dulce, hence no great breezes. That was not great. It is hot. But, we agreed beforehand to accept this unit, otherwise we couldn't have stayed 10 days. Always try for Units 4-8. The climbs are very steep otherwise. Lapa Rios was a dream come true. Remember that it is in a very remote area of Costa Rica. The nearest town, Puerto Jimeny is a 45 minute, fillings-in-your-teeth-rattling ride. Its isolation accounts for its draw - rare, very wild beauty, startling, a little terrifying. (There are 6 venomous snakes on the Asa Peninsula, and hiking with the naturalist one ofternoon, he spotted one, an eyelash viper, on a log, quietly near us. I'd never hike the rainforest wihout a guide, and I hike alot.) One afternoon a baby boa constrictor undulated beneath my chaise at the swiimming pool, then slid into the water for a little dip! Believe me, having seen the 10 or 11 foot boa the gardners found a few days earlier this pip-squeak didn't even faze me.

Comments:
Absolutely fantastic! If you're looking for a lush and tropical secluded hideaway, Lapa Rios is it. Be prepared, it's very remote and rustic and not the Four Seasons, but the atomosphere, wildlife and service is something to experience. There's an abundance of activities to choose from and the food is delicious. Don't worry about eating too much, because you'll get your exercise with either the activities or walking to and from your bungalow. We loved it!

Comments:
By our standards this was an expensive but very beautiful place. Food and service seemed exceptional considering the isolation. Activities were well planned and interesting. Horseback riding was great. Accommodations were wonderfully maintained and the setting spectacular.

Lapa Rios was an excellent vacation. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would go back anytime.

Highlights of our the trip were hiking to the waterfalls, the trip to Corvacavado Forest and the medicine tour.

Comments:
Lapa Rios really needs to improve guest access to phone and fax services. Access to both is difficult and clearly not encouraged. When you pay this much such amenities should be available.

Comments:
Lapa Rios was a lovely place. However, people should understand that they may have to climb lots of steps from their cabin to the main lobby.
