Hideaways Ambassador's Report: Quebec |
An Auberge with Soul |

Weddings can be pretty exhausting -- especially when they're your own. So when it came time for my new wife, Robyn, and me to choose a honeymoon destination, we wanted someplace low-key, a real retreat where we could just unplug for awhile. Neither of us is the type of person to sit on a blanket on some beach and sip margaritas; we like to hike and bicycle and be active. So for us, the perfect place turned out to be Ripplecove Inn & Spa THC on Lake Massawippi in Ayer's Cliff, Quebec. A few days there combined with a few days in Old Montreal--a little country, a little city--made for the ideal honeymoon.
We'd never been to Montreal before, so we were pretty pleased that we seemed to time our trip perfectly for the changing leaves. We were married in Minneapolis on October 7, and two days later we were landing at the airport in Montreal. We got into our rental car, got our little GPS cranked up, punched in "Auberge Ripplecove" -- and about one-and-a-half-hours later, there we were!
