Swiss efficiency and love of technology appear throughout the guest rooms of
the Swiss Diamond Hotel. With motion-sensitive lights in the bathrooms, flat-screen
Internet stations on the desks, and a control board (which manages lights and
window shutters) next to the bed that would do NASA proud, modern convenience
is taken to the extreme. Thankfully, European refinement is not sacrificed in
the process. The hotel's nicest feature, though, is its location—on Lake Lugano,
just north of Morcote, and seven kilometers south of downtown Lugano. Rates start
