Now that I've been to Puerto Vallarta, I can easily imagine how Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton felt when they were swept up in the charm and romance of this once-sleepy fishing village.
It must have been even more charming in 1963 when he was filming The Night of the Iguana with John Huston; she was still married to Eddie Fischer when she followed him down for filming in this little slice of then-undiscovered paradise on the Pacific's Bandaras Bay. Taylor and Burton's passionate love affair was made public there, effectively placing Puerto Vallarta—or "PV," as it's known locally—smack-dab in the middle of a media frenzy and the world spotlight.
