I first set eyes on Martinique exactly 20 years ago. We went there to board the then-new Wind Star, the first of a fleet of boutique-style sailing cruise ships. We figured we'd come a few days early to check out the island, dubbed--most appropriately--Fleur des Caraibes, or Flower of the Caribbean.
