The Trip
Day 1 - ARRIVAL
Upon arrival you will be met by your local English speaking guide and transferred to your hotel in Windhoek. The remain of the day you can explore Nation's capital city. Dinner is by own arrangement. Enjoy one of two in resort restaurants or one of the many restaurants in the capital.
Day 2 - Windhoek Kalahari Desert
Depart Windhoek and drive south drive via Rehoboth to Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch. The Lodge is situated in open grassy plains and surrounded by red sand dunes. Participate in an afternoon scenic nature drive and enjoy sundowners in the dunes. (D)
Day 3 - Kalahari Desert Fish River Canyon
After an early breakfast join a short guided walk before checking-out. Drive through the Kalahari towards Keetmanshoop where you visit the Quiver Tree Forest where about 300 specimens of this pre-historic tree are found. The trees are on average 3-5 metres tall and are a rewarding subject to photograph. Giant's Playground is also nearby and is an impressive jumble of massive dolerite boulders between 160 million and 180 million years old. Continue via Naute Dam to Cañon Lodge. Enjoy an afternoon guided walk in the area. A self-sufficiency centre produces fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, cold meats and cheese for all the Gondwana properties. (BD)
Day 4 - Fish River Canyon - Lüderitz
Wake up early in order to view the spectacular Fish River Canyon also known as one of the largest canyons in the world. Continue to the town of Aus where there are several interesting historical buildings and other traces of crucial historical events such as World War I. Visit the Tourist Information Centre in order to learn more about this area. The driving force behind this new project is the Aus Community Conservation Trust. Continue to Luderitz and arrive in the afternoon so you still have time to explore this lovely, quaint coastal town on foot. The town is also well known for the distinctly German colonial architecture and history. (BD)
Day 5 - Lüderitz Namib Desert
This morning you have an early start. Depart Lüderitz early in order to a short tour of Kolmanskop. This is Namibia's most famous ghost town and situated in the Sperrgebiet. Continue to the Namib Desert and arrive at Sossus Dune Lodge in the afternoon. Sossus Dune Lodge is the only Lodge situated in the Namib Naukluft Park and guests can benefit from being able to reach Sossusvlei before sunrise and to stay until after sunset. Enjoy sundowners at the Lodge. (BLD)
Day 6 - Namib Desert
This morning you wake up early and drive to Sossusvlei so see some of the most spectacular dunes in the world. The early morning colours are amazing and allow for perfect photographic opportunities. The warm tints of the sand, ranging from apricot to orange, red and maroon, contrast vividly with the dazzling white surfaces of the clay pans. Return to the Lodge for lunch (own account). Visit Sesriem Canyon in the afternoon. Centuries of erosion have incised a narrow gorge about 1km in length. At the foot of the gorge are pools that become replenished after good rains. Return to the Lodge before sunset and enjoy sundowners while witnessing another one of the Namibian sunsets in the desert. (BD)
Day 7 - Namib Desert - Swakopmund
Depart Sossus Dune Lodge after breakfast and drive via the Kuiseb Canyon to Walvis Bay. Visit the Walvis Bay lagoon to view the various birds and enjoy lunch (own account) close-by. Drive to Swakopmund in the afternoon and arrive in time for a short tour of the town. Swakopmund is much loved by Namibians because of its old-world charm and relaxed atmosphere. Many of the town's old German colonial character have been preserved and today many of the town's old buildings house shops, offices and other utility services. The Hansa Hotel is a timeless classic and forms part of Swakopmund's architectural culture dating back to 1905. It is centrally situated and the emphasis is not only on personalized service but also elegant style. (BD)
Day 8 - Swakopmund - Damaraland
Depart after an early breakfast and drive via the salt road towards Henties Bay. Continue to the Cape Cross Seal Reserve, the site for the largest breeding colony of Cape fur seals on the Southern African coast. Enter the Skeleton Coast Park at the Ugab River and drive northwards before turning inland to Damaraland. Arrive at Mowani Mountain Camp in the afternoon. Mowani Mountain Camp lies in a vast, beautiful and un-spoilt Wilderness area of unsurpassed desert scenery, unusual geological formations, interesting archaeological sites and a unique variety of desert fauna and flora. Enjoy a cocktail while watching the sun set. (BLD)
Day 9 - Damaraland Etosha National Park
Enjoy a morning scenic drive in the rocky Damaraland area. Visit Twyfelfontein to see the 6 000 years old rock paintings and engravings. Close by is the Petrified Forest where a cataclysmic event millions of years ago deposited tree trunks that subsequently turned to stone. Drive to the Epacha Game Reserve, situated next to Etosha National Park. Join an afternoon game drive from Eagle Tented Camp and sundowners while out on the Reserve. (BD)
Day 10 - Etosha National Park
After an early breakfast and guided walk on the Reserve, depart Eagle Tented Camp and drive to Etosha National Park. The entire day is spent in the park traveling in your closed transfer vehicle, exploring the waterholes along this enormous saltpan. A lunch stop is made at one of the rest camps (lunch not included). Arrive at Namutoni Rest Camp early afternoon and in time for your transfer to Onkoshi Camp. Enjoy more game viewing while being transferred to Onkoshi Camp. Onkoshi means lion and is a low-impact, environmentally friendly lodge over looking the Etosha pan. Arrive in the late afternoon and in time for sundowners in camp. Night drives and moonlight walks are also offered. (BD)
Day 11 - Etosha - Bagani
Depart Onkoshi after an early breakfast for a last game drive towards Namutoni. Leave the park and drive via Tsumeb, Grootfontein and Rundu to Bagani. Divava Lodge is nestled amongst majestic trees on the banks of the Okavango River, a few hundred metres from Popa Falls. The Lodge offers a beautiful view over the river and excellent birding opportunities. Mahango National Park is close by. Join an afternoon boat cruise on the river. (BD)
Day 12 - Bagani - Livingstone
Depart Divava Lodge after an early breakfast and drive via Katima Mulilo to Livingstone.
Arrive in the late afternoon. Livingstone was named after the famous Victorian missionary explorer, Dr. David Livingstone; the Town was established in 1905. The Royal Livingstone Hotel is situated among lush green acacia trees with a magnificent sun deck overlooking the mighty Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls are a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, bordering Zambia and Zimbabwe. Enjoy sundowners on the deck of the hotel. (BLD)
Day 13 - Livingstone
Feel free to join any optional activities offered in the Livingstone area. The choice of activities includes a visit to the David Livingstone museum, a tour of the Falls, a visit to the Maramba Market, game drive in the Mosi-O-Tunya Park, Elephant Back Safaris, Flight of Angels and Micro light flights over the Falls. Day 14 - DEPART
After a leisurely breakfast your guide transfers you to Livingstone airport in time for your flight home.
