  Traveler's Update: Packing a Mandolin to Cuba

This past April, I was fortunate to have visited what one of my friends calls "pre-Burger King" Cuba. As you may know, U.S. citizens who do not have relatives in Cuba must be part of a religious, humanitarian, educational, or cultural group in order to visit Cuba directly from the U.S. I was part of a religious group of 22 that traveled there.

The trip was for the SATTE, which is the South Asia Travel and Tourism Exposition--a travel trade show putting buyers together with seller. We were sponsored for the show by Cox and Kings, a 250-year-old company, i.e. the oldest travel agency and tour operator in the world, dating back to colonial times in India and started by Mr. Cox, an Englishman who apparently was responsible for transporting soldiers back and forth from India to England.
