First 4 days no hot water, restaurant info included from hideaways was way out of date. We loved the property and would go back. Views are fabulous, rooms are arranged nicely, large baths with cross ventilation. Mosquito zappers were very useful.

Comments:
I have traveled extensively in the Caribbean and have never experienced a place like Village St. Jean. The "village" reminds you of a quaint little town in France. The road, steps and paths are all paved in stone. The gardens are colorful and mature. The individual cottage units are very spacious and private. The views on top of the hill are gorgeous and the staff is very friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. I would go back in a second.

Comments:
Use of a car was essential to fully enjoy the resort and the island. Room #12 was outstanding for view and privacy. Other units may not have been so private or have the view. As this is a family resort, it could get noisey with lots of children. The restaurant was excellent for atmosphere, menu selection, quality of food and service. Restaurants, shopping, and beaches on St. Bart's have alot to offer to the visitor. A thouroughly enjoyable trip!

Village St. Jean is an excellent value on a very expensive island. The accommodations were superior - very clean, roomy and our terrace was very private with a great view of St. Jean Bay. I would return to Village St. Jean and recommend to others.

Comments:
1. We rented a car as soon as we got there - it is really necessary - taxis are not always available - there were none at the airport when we arrived. We finally flagged one down and when we got to the hotel they had a rental car delivered. 2. Check and double check that luggage has been checked through to St. Barths and on return to US Airport. On the trip to St. Barths, Continental did not - we were paged in the transit lounge and asked why our luggage was unclaimed. On the return, Windward assured us that it was checked through, but when we double-checked in St. Martin, it was being sent to the wrong airport.

Comments:
On pricey St. Barts., Village St. Jean is an uncommonly good deal. Run by a helpful French family, it enlists a loyal tribe of American repeat customers. They like its small but pleasant pool, on-site open-air restaurant (friendly service, limited menu), and honor-system shop for soda, beer, and snacks. No groceries---if you plan to cook, a rented car is essential. Service and maintenance seem Caribbean-casual. Room service is offered for breakfast, but it doesn't answer its phone. Our defunct porch light stayed defunct. Village St. Jean perches on a hilltop, and while it boasts of its proximity to the beach, would-be swimmers must hike a busy access road down a steeply pitched hill, then struggle back up. You could drive to the bottom, but parking in-season is hopeles. The place would be a mistake, I think, for anyone handicapped, aged, or infirm.

Comments:
A highlight of our trip on several occasions was the opportunity of sunbathing and swimming on extremely beautiful, pristine, secluded beaches-of which there are many fine choices on St. Barths. Dining, just about anywhere, but particularly Masight Bay Beach Club and the elegant and romantic Le Toing was spectacular! Our afternoon cruise to Columbier Beach at the far Western end of the island by Catamaran was magnificant with the snorkeling, wonderful lunch, prepared by charming hosts made for a terrific trip (Toko, Toko Rental). Another highlight was a fun filled evening of partying at Ti St. Barth on Pointe Milou. Exciting bar scene, colorful crowd and great music.

We enjoyed laying on the beach, sleeping late, and having nothing to do. One day we went deep-sea fishing and caught some mahi-mahi. Our scuba dive was also a great experience and all the folks involved were friendly and helpful. St. Barths is not an expensive place however, dinner was about $80 per night and activities like deep sea fishing are best split six ways rather than two. Be careful with the island hopper. The small planes don't accommodate enough luggage, so my fiance had to wait 24 hours for his bags after we arrived. The hotel was nice, centrally located with a great view. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We were very disapointed that the hotel restaurant was not open for our stay. This is a great place to relax.

The hotel was nice. Great views and centrally located. The staff was very pleasant and helped us with arrangements. St Barths is St Tropez in the Caribbean. Great beaches, lovely people and a perfect place to relax.

Village St Jean is a five minute walk to one of the nicest beaches on St Barths. Facilities are excellent, staff very helpful and pleasant. We hope to return.
