Comments:
We enjoyed our trip and liked BEYC. We were surprised that they charged $6/day to rent snorkels - most places include that free.

Comments:
A wonderful honeymoon. The staff--and the boats--were wonderful. Beautiful! Too much to do! We'll go back! The entire staff was awesome, and the boating staff was exceptional.

Comments:
A wonderful and memorable trip! We did alot of hiking in and around the Biras Creek area (the 360 degree views from the top were beautiful) and the resort scuba class was excellent. It is easy to understand why people return there...

Comments:
Because gratuities are built into restaurant/bar bills, the service can be very lax. The people are so nice though that you tend not to care that much. This is a great place to bring kids 10 & up. They can have independent time without parents worrying.

Comments:
An absolutely gorgeous place! The room accomodations are incredible - overlooking the ocean. There is absolute privacy. Snorkeling is great and located nearby. But bring your own mask and snorkel because they are no longer provided. Beaches at the Bitter End are okay, but if lying on the beach and swimming is what you want, then St. John's would be better. Not many children, teens, or single adults were guests at The Bitter End. Most of the guests were married and in their thirties.

Comments:
Bitter End is like Disneyland; too large for the area, very commercialized, and touristy. Certainly not to be considered as a "Hideaway."

Comments:
Our trip to the Bittter End was a fantastic family vacation! We recommend it to others with glowing comments. We travel all over the world on business and vacations and will want to go back to Bitter End again. Even my husband was reluctant to go home after 2 weeks and he's a type A entrepreneur who's always on the go. Although it did not ruin our trip, a criticism expressed by many guests was the management structure. Except for Mary Jo, not one other manager even introduced themself or looked any guest in the eye. Activities were varied and a good value for the price. The food was good and plentiful and nicely presented.

Comments:
The accomodations were excellent with the exception of the food. They advertise the choice of two restaurants, but the fine dining restaurant was only open two of the nights we were there. The other restaurant was adequate but nothing better than average. Other than that it was wonderful.

Comments:
The room was very nice and clean. We met the managers at the weekly cocktail party, but other than that there was no clue as to who the "managers" were. However, the sailing school was very professional and organized.

Comments:
The Bitter End far exceeded our expectations for a Caribbean vacation. The setting is fantastic and the management allowed us terrific freedom with their facilities (all of the boats and sailing courses) without treating us like children. Connections to and from the Bitter End are not well coordinated, however, and management was not helpful at all in this regard. They have unbending, inflexible shuttle schedules. Aside from the connections at both ends, it is a truly fabulous escape in paradise for the active watersports minded vacationer.

Comments:
The sailing school staff a Bitter End were very helpful and encouraging. They went out of their way to be pleasant at all times. We noticed however, a marked difference in serivice and friendliness in the dining room staff. Those people on the "Admiral's package" where they pay a flat sercice charge per person per day, got a noticebly different service than those who tipped on an individual basis. The staff was less friendly and prompt for those on the Admiral's package. Overall, we had a wonderful week there. The food was excellent and so were the facilities, the water sports, etc.

Comments:
The Bitter End offers a vacation package for the travelers who enjoy an intrinsic need for beauty and the sea. The panoramic view from the hillside overlooking the North Sound is magnificent. At night every single star and planet shines from above. There are many opportunities to be one with nature and the sea. The staff is wonderful. The food is deliciuos, abundant, and irresistable. We plan to return, probably by boat.

Comments:
We had a wonderful ime during our stay at he Bitter End. The highlight was attending the "Nick Trotter Sailing School." We had no prior experience at all. Because of the dedication and excellent sailing knowledge of all the instructers at the school, we were able to sail solo on one of the school's 30 foot sailboats after only four days of training. This basic sailing course has opened a whole new world to us and we are going on to learn more about this wonderful sport every chance we get.

Comments:
On our first day, one of the guides took us to a snorkeling spot on a Ponce de Leon motorized raft. He didn't tell us what to watch out for. Because of treacherous currents, wind, and a pounding surf, we were thrown against fire coral and recieved cuts from our chest to our calves. He did not offer us a towel, antiseptic, or any assistance. We did not report him. I also noticed a little racial tension and hostility in the waitresses. The overall impression however, was dreamy.

Comments:
Should anyone ask about the dress code at Bitter End, I would assure them that casual is the norm. Cover-ups and shoes are worn in dining areas, but otherwise no jackets and ties, very few skirts. Dress of the day (and evening) was usually shorts or slacks and a light sweater.

Comments:
Our accomodations were quite far from the center of activities. We had accommodations with a northern exposure, and therefore never had any sun. I would suggest to people that the beachfront villas are preferrable in the winter months. The Bitter End has grown a lot since we first stopped by on our boat in the late 1980's. I hope that it does not grow anymore because it will destroy the feeling that made The Bitter End so popular in the first place.

Comments:
The one day charter cruise with the captain from Bira's Creek was the highlight and the dissapointment of our trip. The trip was great, but the Bitter End, contrary to its advertising, could not accommodate our party of six with a Charter anytime during our nine-day stay.

Comments:
The location is excellent; a nice view, the waters are protected from the heavy surf, and there are snorkeling reefs in the vicinity which are interesting. We were able to see a sea turtle, a large octopus, and a shark (harmless variety), not to mention vast schools of fish of various types. The trips to the reefs, organized by the staff on a schedule, are sufficiently frequent. The grounds were very well kept. The staff were all very courteous, friendly, and smiling.

The baths, secluded beaches, and the enivronment in general were extremely relaxing and refreshing. This vacation rates as our #1 vacation ever. A must on our reurn list.

Comments:
If you love mountains, tropical flowers, and being in and on the water, you'll love this place. The Bitter End is not like any other place we've stayed. It allows you to be completely isolated or extremely active and involved. There is no pushing or prodding and it is extremely casual. Activities are available every day yet the beaches and pools are so lovely you could just sit around and drink it in. The chalets are great for privacy with a beautiful view overlooking the sound. Almost everyone we met has been coming back to the Bitter End for years. We're already talking about returning.

Comments:
The BItter End is a beautiful place. The view from our hillside villa was spectacular - especially the sunsets. The Bitter End has lots of sailboats. Our teenage boy especially enjoyed the J-24's. The food is very good and plentiful for an island resort. The North Sound Express is the most beautiful way to get to and from the Bitter End. We went scuba diving with Kilbrides and did lots of sailing. We took beach trips to Prickly Pear Island and went snorkeling on the reef areas. It's a great family get away with lots of activities available for everyone who likes water-related activities.

We love going to The Bitter End and consider it a great value. We meet many new friends and enjoy getting to know the many newlyweds we meet. Our daughter wants to go there on her honeymoon.

The whole trip was perfect. We loved the romantic atmosphere, the dining experience, the accommodations, the water sports, and the people.

Comments:
We enjoyed the sailing aspects of The Bitter End and would recommend the resort for those wishing to learn to sail or improve their sailing skills. Unfortunately our visit coincided with the birthday celebration of the owner's son. Because of the large number of people included in the birthday celebration, those of us paying were subjected to a very substandard level of service.

Comments:
Snorkeling was excellent except for the jellyfish. Tha sailing and windsurfing instruction was good. Virgin Gorda istself remains ravishing, very unspoiled by Caribbean standards, but there's a hideous, noisy eyesore opposite the Bitter End where a new restaurant was being built. The food was not great, barely adequate. The restaraunt had the same hideous menu every night (except Sunday when they offered a more simplified version). Breakfast was okay if you just had tropical fruit. The matresses in our room were misrably hard.

Comments:
Outstanding vacation for sailors or just lovers of warm water and sun. The entire staff went out of their way to make certain everything was to our liking. The friendly laid-back atmosphere was just what we needed. They were even kind enough to offer us a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. The watersport crew was excellent. We beached our hobie to rest for a minute and two separate watersport folks came by to see whether we needed help! The Commodore Suites were lovely; gorgeous, clean, bright, and pleasant.

Comments:
We had been to the Bitter End four years ago for 16 previous years. In previous years the staff was more courteous and the grounds were maintained in better condition. In previous years the upscale dining room was open several nights a week and there was food service at the pool. This time the upscale dining room was only open 1 night and there was no food service at the pool. All-in-all, though, we were happy with the vacation - we just thought some of the pampering was definately missing! The highlight of the trip was the sail to Anegada.

Excellent view from our units. The food was consistently good. The majority of the staff was friendly and helpful. Side trips, snorkeling and evening sailing were all very enjoyable. We are planning a trip next year with friends.

Comments:
A day trip to the baths at the Cata marah was excellent. Learning to sail in thunderstorms was unique but the sailing staff never lost thier smiles. The sailing staff was excellent. The singing staff was charming and gracious. The Staff at the front desk was ok, but nothing more. Group check in doesn't cut it in my book. The front desk never extended themselves at all.

Comments:
We think the Bitter End is very special. We are not yachting people but we will be returning for a third time. People (guests) are friendly and it is a fun place. We are older 66 and 77, but we like the mixture of ages of the guests. Our accommodations were very private but the main lodge is very lively so you have a taste of each.
