Comments:
Very private and relaxing. Great location -- able to walk to restaurants at night. Near small airport -- may bother some but my husband loved to watch the small lanes take off and land. Great pool bartender -- friendly and helpful. Furnishings in our unit could use an update. Also, a microwave would have been nice in the small kitchen. Close to good beaches. Liked that we could drive to great shopping but then leave it behind for the less-busy Grand Case. We will come back.

Comments:
Frugal gourmets will starve in Grand Case. You've just got to splurge. Restaurants are numerous in Grand Case, most too expensive and not worth it. I probably won't go again because of that. Perhaps a villa on the beach in a different location would suit us better next time. Local "taxi" into Marigot $2 vs. $15 for "official" cabs. Little beach at Grand Case Beach Club is the only beach in town, a ten minute walk from the hotel. If you're flying inter-island, go into Grand Case airport.

Comments:
L'Esplanade is a wonderful small hotel with great restaurants within easy walking distance. We went for 5 days of total relaxation. St. Martin itself isn't particularly picturesque, but if you need to relax, it's perfect. The manager Kristin set the tone for the place. She is outgoing, enthusiastic, full of information, helpful, and wonderful to the housekeeping staff. That makes for friendly service. A short walk down a hill to Grand Case yields lots of ocean-side restaurants.

Comments:
Our initial impression of St. Martin was poor. Granted there have been two hurricanes recently, but it seems like people just don't care. There was lots of trash and debris, roads in terrible condition, and falling down houses on the main street, etc. We enjoyed L'Esplanade though. The location and the view were great. We especially liked walking to Grand Case and having dinner in a great French restaurant. People were friendly and we grew to like the island better as the week went on.

Comments:
We loved L'Esplanade! The ambiance, the privacy and spaciousness of our accommodations, the lovely view, the easy access to the village of Grand Case with its fabulous restaurants and the helpful staff were all wonderful. We are planning to return next year.

Comments:
The restaurants in Grand Case are exceptional. Prices are similar to US gourmet restaurants, i.e. not cheap. Grand Case is a nice quiet town, causal and comfortable. People were friendly, helpful and welcoming.
