Ah, village life . . . waking to blue skies and balmy breezes . . . lingering over coffee and fruit on the terrace—facing the day's big decisions: whether to swim with the dolphins in the lagoon or play croquet, shop in the arcade before or after your lavender/aloe body wrap at the spa, where to eat lunch and dinner . . .
Such is a typical day at Half Moon, a virtual village so self-contained you may never want to leave. Beaches? The resort has two perfect crescents of white sand—private, of course. Activities? Splash into some snorkeling or scuba, try your luck on a deep-sea fishing trip, join a volleyball game, ask the David Leadbetter pros for some tips before tackling the Half Moon golf course, mount up at the equestrian center for a trail ride—or, if the thought of all this leaves you enervated, send the kids off to be entertained at the Anancy Center and stretch out at the beach with a cold drink.
When you get hungry, there are six gourmet restaurants serving everything from Italian to Indian to Jamaican cuisine, plus a handful of snack areas including a swim-up pool bar. Speaking of pools, there are three main ones, plus dozens of others serving various accommodation areas. And these are just a few of the reasons that Half Moon is renowned for setting the gold standard on Jamaica's northwest coast.
Half Moon's comfortably furnished rooms and suites are divided among clusters of buildings, so you can be near the kids' center or somewhat removed, overlooking the beach or just up the hill. But what will really make you want to settle in permanently are the fabulous Georgian-style villas.
