Vacationing along the California coast brings to mind different things to different people: golden bridges, happy cows, vineyards, and beaches-or maybe that long, golden sweep of mostly two-lane highway that snakes its way from Los Angeles to San Francisco and beyond. I highly recommend a leisurely road trip along Pacific Coast Highway (otherwise known as Highway 1) as the perfect way to explore this part of California at a pace that practically begs you to linger along the way.
