The Mediterranean is home to many magical islands, each with their own history, culture, architecture, and wonderful hotels and resorts. Among our favorite islands to spend a relaxing, sun-filled vacation are Sicily, Mallorca, and Malta. Sicily remains a top travel destination in the Mediterranean for obvious reasons--its beautiful beaches, ancient Greek temples and ruins, dramatic cliffside hotels, and scrumptious restaurants provide the perfect setting for a well-rounded European vacation. Travel to Europe for the best history lesson of all, witnessing the ruins and hearing the stories of Phoenician, Roman, Moorish, and Catalan rule on the island of Mallorca. With so much to see on this Spanish Mediterranean isle, you might have to stay at both recommended hotels.
