Clayoquot Wilderness Resort [Tofino, British Columbia]
Leave the sleeping bags at home—in fact, don't even bother with bug spray. Sure, guests will be sleeping in a tent, but life at Clayoquot Wilderness Retreat bears no resemblance to roughing it. The capacious white canvas tents perched atop wooden platforms are furnished with rich rugs, cushy chairs, and Adirondack-style beds made up with fluffy down duvets; each even has a remote-controlled propane-fired woodstove, electric lights and outlets, and endless hot water in the private shower and sink. Just about everything anyone could possibly need is either at hand or available for use at no charge from the resort. Flashlights? Check. The aforementioned insect repellent? Check. Rain slickers, riding gear, fly-fishing rods? Check, check, check. And guests needn't feel a twinge of eco-conscious guilt at being so pampered—the resort is as solicitous of the environment as it is of their comfort.
