The Kentucky Derby, Louisville, Kentucky (First Saturday in May): The annual Run for the Roses is horse-racing's most venerable event, and a great see-and-be-seen extravaganza as well. Hideaways President Mike Thiel recalls his recent Kentucky Derby attendance--when he rubbed elbows with celebrities in Millionaire's Row--as "a party and fashion show extraordinaire. The schmoozing, the hats, and the carnival atmosphere of the crowd were worth the price of admission."

Wimbledon, South London, England (Late June): What started in 1877 as a proper British tennis match with a garden party atmosphere has evolved over the years into a high-stakes, internationally acclaimed tournament--complete with tempermental celebrity players and Centre Court crowds topping the 13,000 mark and roaring themselves hoarse.
