Hideaways' Review |
Located under the wonderful bell tower of the church of Aghi Anargyri, the Villa Ivi is a charming retreat. Sheltered from the Cycladic winds, the traffic free village of Megalochori provides a peaceful and sought after alternative.
What is now the romantic Villa Ivi, once provided the villagers with a safe haven from marauding pirates who invaded the island. Today the villa, with its cool vaulted interior, provides an enchanting holiday home.
In close proximity to the picturesque village square with its Venetian architecture, this beautiful villa is approached through painted blue doors which lead into a pretty and private courtyard with its floor of rounded pebbles and comes complete with the indulgence of a large, outdoor heated Jacuzzi.
The strong, simple lines of the central living room with seating and dining areas and fully equipped kitchen are welcoming, rural and poetic. Preserved historical purity is evident throughout the rest of the house. The large master bedroom has a view of the courtyard and an opulent walk - in closet. A large bathroom, with modern amenities serves this bedroom whilst the second bedroom, with its own private entrance from the courtyard, has a bathroom en - suite.
The villa is suitable for two couples or a small family seeking a private, summer retreat from which to explore the island. |
