Hideaways' Review
This spectacular castle has been the Irish home of the Dukes of Devonshire since 1748. Situated in a panoramic position, it overlooks the Blackwater Valley with views over rolling wooded hills to the Knockmealdown Mountains. The castle was built in the 13th Century by King John. The entrance is on the edge of Lismore, which is steeped in history and has been designated a Heritage Town. There is a hard tennis court in the garden and salmon fishing can be arranged. There is a 9 hole golf course on the estate and full courses in the area. Riding and fox hunting (in season) can be arranged and there are racecourses within easy reach. The castle is ideal for large parties. Features include a billiard room, a banquet hall, and private bathrooms for each bedroom. Property represents sample, other locations available. (EI-WD381) |
