Hideaways' Review |
Presidents and princes from around the globe come to Llao Llao Hotel and Resort for its natural and man-made grandeur: the spectacular Patagonian landscape that ensconces it . . . a plethora of four-season recreational activities . . . its spacious public rooms fashioned in bold, bigger-than-life mountain style . . . the superbly professional yet entirely welcoming service that makes guests feel thoroughly looked after.
Set on a rise between the glacial lakes of Nahuel Huapi and Moreno, and surrounded by three majestic Andean mountains, Llao Llao delivers a 360-degree panorama of breathtaking vistas. Challenge yourself with 18 holes on the most scenic golf course in South America—an appellation that can as easily be applied to most of the hotel's other recreational venues, such as its marina, beach, spa, and year-round heated indoor/outdoor infinity-edged pool. Guests appreciate the many complimentary activities included with their stay—guided hikes, golf lessons, and classes in yoga, archery, and rappelling, plus a complimentary shuttle to the nearby Cerro Catedral ski area.
Originating in 1940, Llao Llao was painstakingly refurbished in 1993 and given even more upgrades in 2002, with the most recent addition being the highly requested Lake Moreno Wing of deluxe studios and suites featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces. Almost as legendary as its scenery is the hotel's dining; the expansive complimentary buffet breakfast (hint: a mid-morning feast here could last you until happy hour); the exquisitely rustic Café Patagonia, offering excellent casual fare; and—for those craving culinary art and finery after a day in the wilds—the highly regarded Los Césares, serving an international gourmet menu that features local meats, fish, and game. In all, it's a heady combination of exemplary service, comfortable mountain indulgences, and lofty scenery that will leave your spirits floating high above the mountain peaks. |
