Hideaways' Review |
Here is just the sort of place that promises relaxed, barefoot days and fun-filled, starry nights, a place where you can immerse yourself in the energy of the bustling marina, with its adjacent restaurants and shops, and yet always find a quiet corner in which to settle. Nestled into a protected harbor, the resort is a cluster of colorful clapboard-sided buildings finished with white trim and dormer windows and meant to inspire memories of the Caribbean of yesteryear. Low-rise and discreet, they welcome sailors and landlubbers home with a total of 42 junior and one-, two-, or three-bedroom suites, each with private balconies that give way to water or garden views. You'll want to cozy up and stay awhile (no doubt with the entire family) so you can take full advantage of the nicely equipped kitchen, roomy living area, comfy furnishings, and lovely island-inspired decor in refreshingly cool colors.
Of course, the Bahama islands are famous for their powder-soft beaches tinted pink by crushed coral, as well as their diving, snorkeling, fishing, and boating—and Harbour Island ranks right up there at the top. Strike off for the quieter side of the island at Pink Sand Beach, just an easy walk away, or take your own golf cart (Valentines has plenty) and go exploring. Feeling lazy? Stay close to home and enjoy Valentine's own freshwater heated swimming pool, the largest on the island. Or stroll over to the Boat House Restaurant, where modern-day mariners from all over the world gather for excellent seafood and dramatic waterfront views. We dare you not to fall in love with Valentines! |
