Hideaways' Review |
Stepping through the red-carpeted entryway of The Fairmont Copley Plaza is somewhat akin to being transported into the pages of a French fairytale—right down to the golden harp in the hotel's Oval Room. Such palatial touches as ornate azure-and-gold floor coverings mirror the beauty of the clear blue skies above, masterfully painted on a vaulted ceiling in the exquisite lobby. French antiques, marble columns, and broad strokes of gold that glitter and gleam complete the enchanting picture.
Completed in 1912, this grand dame of Boston offers a celebrated history (nearly every president in U.S. history has stayed here), an authentic location in the heart of America's "walking city," and grand living at its best. Spend your days shopping the nearby boutiques on Newbury Street, or sampling Boston's rich cultural heritage at Trinity Church, Beacon Hill, and the Freedom Trail. Then relax with a martini in the storied Oak Bar, or enjoy perfectly grilled prime-aged steaks and fresh seafood at the legendary and much-lauded Oak Room.
Copley Plaza shines more brightly than ever with the completion of an extensive, $34 million renovation of each of the hotel's guest rooms and suites. Additions include Fairmont Gold, an exclusive, fourth-floor, "hotel within a hotel" replete with an elegant lounge, private check-in, and exclusive concierge service. With so much sophistication at hand, you'd think The Fairmont Copley Plaza would be stuffy. Maybe that's why the management installed a resident mascot, its friendly and refined Canine Ambassador, the black Lab named Catie Copley. It's as if to remind staff and guests of the hotel's commitment to warm, devoted, yet unobtrusive service—as well as its down-home Yankee roots. |
