Hideaways' Review |
Treasure-seekers will want to add this gem to their collections of favorite places to savor again and again. A standout on quiet St. Croix, this family-run full-service resort commands a beautiful spot overlooking the ocean on rolling hills that were once cane fields, and commandeers every luxury in the service of making guests' stays memorable. Accommodations are clustered in several distinct areas—the plantation-style Great House, two-bedroom family cottages on the hillside above the beach, oceanfront suites and rooms tucked between two of the resort's three beaches, and the ultra-luxurious Doubloons, a cluster of villas perched above Mermaid Beach—enhancing the sense of privacy and community. Whichever you choose, you'll have your own balcony or terrace from which to survey your domain, from rooms characterized by pastel walls, cool tile or marble floors, mahogany armoires, and modern accoutrements such as satellite TV.
When you do choose to venture out, just about everything you might desire is right here. Golf? The resort has its own course. Tennis? There are eight courts and a resident pro. Water sports? Snorkel off the beach or arrange a scuba trip out to Buck Island. Dining? Choose among four excellent restaurants. Kids' camp, nature trails, a full spa—they're all part of the package, offered with a warm charm that keeps devotees coming back here year after year. |
