Providenciales - Turks and Caicos
Amenities & Activities
What manner of lady so captivated the locals of these islands in the British West Indies, sometime around the turn of the 19th century, that they named one of the most beautiful bays in the world after her? Because Grace Bay and the lovely boutique hotel of Point Grace, which sits at the northern end of exquisite 12-mile Grace Bay Beach, are named for an actual Victorian lady, Grace Hutchings, who honeymooned here in a small cottage more than 100 years ago.
She must have been quite something to have inspired such an accolade. The bay that bears her name has a powder-soft alabaster beach that's continually ranked one of the world's ten best, and Point Grace itself is an award-winning, classic beauty with British-Colonial architecture and a refined sense of style. Just 28 one- to four-bedroom condominium-style suites offer an international smorgasbord of luxurious touches: Turkish Saturnia tile floors, Indonesian teak furnishings, Italian granite countertops in the well-equipped kitchens, fine Frette linens and towels from Italy, and luscious bath amenities by Britain's Asprey of London. Each guest accommodation is a haven of privacy, from the simple one-bedroom Cottage Suites tucked among the palms to the more expansive suites and cottages literally steps from the sea. Also within easy reach are the negative-entry swimming pool (note the "No noise, please" sign) and the Thalasso Spa with its open-to-the-breezes beachfront treatment rooms.
Our lovely Victorian also left her mark on Grace's Cottage, the hotel's gourmet restaurant that?s readily acknowledged as one of the finest on the island of Providenciales. Guests dine by candlelight either indoors or al fresco (much as the honeymooners might have picnicked) on a delightful open-air terrace under the stars.
