Hideaways' Review
When it comes to deliciously inviting beaches, powder-soft pink beats out white every time--especially when that color is complemented by a pleasantly quirky collection of just 25 pastel-hued cottages with chic interiors by famed British fashion designer Barbara Hulanicki. Each intimate retreat, whether a one- or two-bedroom cottage nestled in lush gardens or a similar ocean-view suite, has rich wood furnishings, the softest linens imaginable, a tiled bathroom with sleek stainless fittings, and wide louvered doors leading to a private patio with teak furniture. Then there's the two-bedroom Bimini Cottage, an oceanfront enclave so discreetly placed that it has its own hidden pathway to the beach, plus a terrace so large, it easily fits multiple chaises and a private Jacuzzi® with room to spare.
With 19 idyllic acres to explore--all part of an official bird sanctuary--you'll never want for things to do. Swim in the freshwater pool, try some snorkeling or tennis, have the concierge arrange for a massage, or roll up your sleeves and join in a hands-on culinary journey of the Bahamas with Pink Sands' chefs. If you prefer your dining with ocean views and smooth service, simply wander over to the candlelit al fresco dining room for Caribbean Fusion cuisine.
But allow us to gush a bit more about three-mile-long Pink Sands Beach, which more than once has been raised to the pinnacle of perfection by travel writers as the best beach in the world. Did we mention how wide and smooth and flat it is, that it turns various shades of salmon and terra cotta as the sun sets, or that sometimes you can walk for miles and not see another soul? It's true--there are spectacular beaches and beachfront resorts . . . and then there is Pink Sands. |
