Hideaways' Review |
It’s the garden view to end all urban hotel garden views. Gaze out your window in the Aldrovandi Palace, and you may find yourself gazing across the manicured green tranquility of the Borghese Gardens. Even those impeccably dressed rooms that don’t overlook the famous gardens have refreshing vistas of the hotel’s private park and the grounds of the surrounding villas.
It’s hard to equate this sense of serenity with the heart of noisy, busy Rome, but in fact, the Aldrovandi is only twenty minutes’ walk from the Spanish Steps and the Via Veneto. Capitalizing on its aristocratic heritage and superb location in the upscale Parioli district, the Aldrovandi sets itself and its guests apart from the commonplace. All the trappings of its history are here—Venetian chandeliers and antique furniture, rich upholstery and marble floors. So are two of the best finds in Rome: an outdoor swimming pool, an absolute treasure during Rome’s hottest months, and 'baby', the Michelin-starred restaurant featuring the cuisine of Alfonso Iaccarino—one of the major names on the Italian culinary scene.
But, of course, you’re only as far from Rome as you choose to be. Take the Aldrovandi’s complimentary shuttle to the Spanish Steps and the shopping district, consult the concierge about which restaurants to try, then divide your attention between a concert and the astonishing architecture of Renzo Piano’s Auditorium near the hotel. And when you’re through? Your garden is waiting. |
