Hideaways' Review |
If all you really desire is to luxuriate in the Caribbean sunshine, test your golf mettle, dabble in endless activities, and be waited on hand and foot, your oceanfront villa resort awaits. Spanish for "country home," Casa de Campo is just that—a welcoming retreat that will relax and charm you while caressing your senses with its aquamarine sea, rustling palms, and sweetly scented gardens. Clustered around a freshwater pool and immersed in tropical plantings is a collection of guest rooms and suites, each decorated in watercolor hues and with rich mahogany furnishings and a private terrace. But the real treat is tucked into the luxuriant foliage along the private beach and golf courses—a selection of two- to four-bedroom villas that bring with them everything a proper "country home" should have, including personal maid/butler service, private patios with pools or whirlpools, and enough space for a family or group of golfing buddies to really spread out.
Speaking of golf, Casa de Campo has three Pete Dye-designed courses, including Teeth of the Dog,an apt moniker considering its fierce reputation as the top course in the Caribbean (its toughness is balanced, however, with seven sweet holes fronting the sea). Of course, there are also plenty of places where a group of girlfriends can de-stress (think luscious spa) or where the kids can stay entertained for hours with children’s programs, horseback riding, and water sports. Afterwards, you can meet up at one of six restaurants serving everything from Italian to Szechuan. And, with 7,000 acres of sun-soaked Caribbean playground to cover, you’ll truly appreciate the four-passenger touring cart that comes with every room, suite, and villa. |
