Hideaways' Review |
Cabo Azul means "Blue End," and its name is keenly apt, personifying this resort's stunning location near the southernmost point of the Baja California Peninsula. Here, life is elemental: earth, wind, fire, water, sky. Nature provides some of these—a limitless stretch of surf-tossed beach, ocean breezes, the lively Sea of Cortez, and the forever-clear, deep-blue skies with which this peninsula is blessed. Where nature falls short, the fanciful Cabo Azul fills in. Take the dramatic lighting flickering from black, hammered-metal lanterns and columns scattered about its 12 acres. Or the spectacular fire-dancing platforms that light up the evening festivities around the pool. When treacherous undertows make ocean swimming undesirable, Cabo Azul more than makes up for it with a magnificent, tri-level, oceanfront swimming pool. Artfully designed villas (one- to three-bedroom) are contemporary hacienda-style—all air and light mixed with dark chocolate woods and elaborate Mexican metalwork.
Cook your own meals (a market is on site, and others are within walking distance), or employ the services of the dining service or a personal chef. Those not in favor of DIY can enjoy an artful Mexican meal at Javier's Cantina & Grill, an outpost of the trendy eateries in Irvine and Laguna Beach, California. When you've had enough sun, enjoy a delightful massage in a breeze-caressed beachside cabana, or visit the transcendent Paz Body & Mind Spa, with its cascading waterfalls and candle-lit cabanas. When all this atmosphere causes the elements to combine for you and your loved one, there's even a five-story, open-air wedding chapel at hand. |
